1×6 Naniwa Chosera Water Stones | Fits Edge Pro, TSProf, Hapstone

The 1×6 Naniwa Chosera Water Stones are designed for guided sharpening systems and offer consistent grit performance across a full sharpening progression. Known for precise manufacturing and uniform abrasive distribution, these stones provide controlled cutting and polishing while maintaining predictable feedback during sharpening.

These stones are available in eight grits, organized into three categories: Coarse, Medium, and Fine, allowing users to build a complete sharpening progression from repair to polishing.

Coarse Grits (400, 600, 800)

The coarse range is used for stock removal, edge repair, and reprofiling. These grits remove deeper scratches created by diamond plates, abrasive belts, or heavily worn stones. They are typically not used as finishing stones. Instead, they prepare the edge for the next stage in the sharpening progression.

Common uses:

  • Edge repair

  • Reprofiling bevel angles

  • Removing chips

  • Preparing for medium grit refinement

Medium Grits (800, 1000, 2000, 3000)

Medium grits are used for refining the edge and achieving practical sharpness. These stones reduce scratches from coarse grits and can serve as a finishing stage for working edges. They are also commonly used as transition stones before polishing.

Common uses:

  • Edge refinement

  • Maintenance sharpening

  • Working edge finishing

  • Preparation for polishing stones

Fine Grits (3000, 5000, 10000)

Fine grits are used for polishing and edge finishing. These stones refine the scratch pattern and improve edge clarity. They are intended for polishing and light maintenance rather than repair work. Fine grits are also used before stropping.

Common uses:

  • Polishing bevels

  • Refining scratch pattern

  • Preparing for stropping

  • Light touch-up sharpening

Compatibility

Each stone measures 1″ × 6″ × 5mm and is mounted on a standard steel blank, making them compatible with a wide range of guided sharpening systems, including:

  • Jende JIGS for Knives

  • Edge Pro sharpeners

  • Hapstone sharpeners

  • TSProf sharpeners

  • Wicked Edge Uni Stone Holder paddles

How to Use

For best performance, soak the stones in water for one to two minutes before use. During sharpening, keep the surface hydrated to maintain consistent cutting. After sharpening, rinse the stones and allow them to air dry completely. Store them in a dry location when not in use.

To maintain performance, periodically flatten the stones using a Jende Glass Lapping Plate or Jende Diamond Lapping Plate. Regular lapping helps keep the surface flat and clean, which supports consistent sharpening results.

With a full grit progression and compatibility across multiple guided systems, the 1×6 Naniwa Chosera Water Stones provide a structured approach for repair, sharpening, and polishing in one lineup.
