The 1×6 Naniwa Chosera Water Stones are designed for guided sharpening systems and offer consistent grit performance across a full sharpening progression. These stones are available in eight grits , organized into three categories: Coarse, Medium, and Fine , allowing users to build a complete sharpening progression from repair to polishing. Coarse Grits (400, 600, 800) The coarse range is used for stock removal, edge repair, and reprofiling . These grits remove deeper scratches created by diamond plates, abrasive belts, or heavily worn stones. They are typically not used as finishing stones. The Jende Double-Sided Glass Lapping Plate measures a generous 10″ x 4″ and includes coarse, medium, and fine silicon carbide lapping powders for versatile stone maintenance. Crafted from ½″ thick float glass , it features two functional surfaces. One side is etched for use with lapping powders to efficiently flatten sharpening stones, while the opposite side is perfectly smooth and flat for precision work. The etched side has 0.5 mm deep grooves , making it more aggressive for lapping. These grooves also help channel swarf away, reducing stiction especially when working with finer grit stones. The smooth side accommodates a half-width sheet of full-size sandpaper or lapping film , and can also serve as a reference plate for flattening knives, chisels, and plane blades.
